Enrollment
Admissions for 2011-2012 Academic Year
Due to recent expansion at the middle school level we have a limited number of openings for grades six and seven.
New student applications are available in the main office, or you may download a packet by clicking here. Though our lottery was held in February, and we have waiting lists in grades K through 5, we encourage you to contact the school and to apply.
Admissions for 2012-2013 Academic Year
Admissions Procedures
New student applications will be available beginning January 3, 2012, and will be due no later than February 17, 2012. Click here for a copy of the 2012-2013 application.
A letter of intent will be mailed to the parents of all current students on January 6, 2012, and a response will be due to the school office no later than January 31, 2012.
Siblings of current students who wish to enroll at Orange Charter School will have first priority should there be openings at any grade level. Thereafter, openings will be filled by a lottery. After all slots in a grade level are filled, students will be placed on a waiting list according to sibling priority and lottery results.
The lottery will be held February 24, 2012.
On February 27, 2012 Orange Charter School will attempt to contact all parents/guardians with the results of our lottery. If we are unable to reach parents after several attempts, we will move on to the next student on our list. Once contact with a parent/guardian is made, the family will have 48 hours to make a decision. Should the parent/guardian not respond to our attempt to contact them, we will move on to the next student on the list.
Should openings become available during the summer or after the school year begins, we will fill those open seats from the waiting list. The same 48-hour time frame will apply.
Orange Charter School is a public school funded with local and state revenue. There is no cost to attend our school. The school is open to any North Carolina resident child that is age appropriate to his or her respective grade.
Orange Charter School does limit the total number of students that may attend. A student’s admission will not be based on their race, religion, nationality, sex or disability.
Parents/guardians must submit an application for each student they want to be considered for enrollment.
Any application submitted without proof of residency, a copy of the applying student’s birth certificate and a *current academic grade report will not be included in our lottery.
*Kindergarten applications will be accepted and included in our lottery without a current academic grade report.
