Admissions for 2009-2010 Academic Year Admissions Procedures

New student applications will be accepted beginning January 05, 2009, and will be due no later than February 9, 2009.

A letter of intent will be mailed to the parents of all current students on Monday, January 5, 2009 and will be due to the school office no later than February 2, 2009.

Age/grade appropriate students who are currently enrolled, will be given the opportunity to return to our school.

Siblings of current students who wish to enroll at Orange Charter School will have first priority, should there be openings at any grade level. Thereafter, openings will be filled by a lottery. After all slots in a grade level are filled, students will be placed on a waiting list according to sibling priority and lottery results.

The lottery will be held February 18, 2009.

On February 19, 2009 Orange Charter School will attempt to contact all parents/guardians with the results of our lottery. If we are unable to reach parents after several attempts, we will move on to the next student on our list. Should contact be made with parent/guardian and they are unsure of their decision the parent/guardian will have 48 hours from the time of contact to make a decision. Should no return contact be made by the parent/guardian we will move on to the next student on the list.

Should openings become available during the summer or after the school year begins we will fill those open seats with the lottery results. The same 48-hour time frame will apply.

Orange Charter School is a public school funded with local and state revenue. There is no cost to attend our school. The school is open to any North Carolina resident child that is age appropriate to their respective grade.

Orange Charter School does limit the total number of students that may attend. A student’s admission will not be based on their race, religion, nationality, sex or disability.

Parents/guardians must submit an application for each student they want to be considered for enrollment.
